TALENT AT WORK
Additional Resource

With a range of courses encompassing nearly all live-entertainment professions (artistic, managerial and technical), the Accademia Teatro alla Scala Foundation is a benchmark institution for training at an international level. And it is unique because it is linked to one of the most famous opera houses in the world, Teatro alla Scala. As well as being leading experts in the field of performing arts, Teatro alla Scala’s artists and professionals also form the teaching staff at the Academy, adopting a teaching approach that favours practical activity, both on stage and behind the scenes. This is because the experience gained from opera and ballet productions, concerts, exhibitions and special projects, as well as on internships at major performing arts institutions, ensures students acquire the most suitable knowledge for entering this professional world. This has been the case since 1813, when the Ballet School was founded, an institution that has shaped artists of highest calibre.
Today the Academy is divided into four departments, Music, Dance, Stagecraft and Management, and offers over thirty courses, including preparatory courses, professional training courses, advanced courses, first- and second-level academic diploma courses from AFAM (Alta Formazione Artistica, Musicale e Coreutica or ‘Advanced Artistic, Musical and Dance Training’), who provide degree-equivalent qualifications as well as 1st-level Masters courses, workshops and summer internships.
